The Story Behind Gabriel:

For many years I shared with my family and friends that I wanted to develop a “mobile Praise & Worship Team” that was not tied to any specific congregation or denomination.  This Team would go throughout the DFW metroplex, leading Worship Services at different churches as well as special events such as indoor/outdoor festivals.  After sharing this dream for years, I finally committed myself to the project during the Christmas Holidays of 2009.  After placing a couple of ad’s on the internet and with the new friendship of Dave Welker - through another band that we played together in, Gabriel began to come together.  Instrumentalists began responding to the ads, and within weeks, early in 2010, we held our first few rehearsals in my living room.

Fast forward 8+ weeks later, Gabriel had turned into a Praise and Worship Team of 8 instrumentalists and 13 singers, a sound technician and a multi-media coordinator.  I had surrendered to God, finally gave my time to Him, and He took control and built our team.

Today I realize that I am not in control, but only helping to Direct the Team.  What God intends for our group is unknown.  Almost every week, someone new surfaces…whether it be a new singer, a new volunteer to help run sound, or whatever.  And I know that as we hit the streets, the various different Churches and different venues, more and more people will ask to be a part of Gabriel in some form or fashion.  At this point, I am not setting any limits to the size or direction that we go.  I do not want to challenge God’s plan.  Instead, I want to enjoy each and every day with Gabriel in my life.

One of the greatest pleasures from this project is knowing that each and every person involved is volunteering their time because of their own personal need to Worship, and to share their God given talents with others.  As we have developed our project, the rehearsals themselves are beginning to become a Worship Experience.  We are creating a family…all from different walks of life, different upbringings, different experiences…but all sharing the same love of Jesus Christ and the same need to be fed by the Holy Spirit.

Just as in the Bible, Gabriel was the chosen angel to deliver the messages from God to the chosen few…..we have come together as musicians, to share our talents and deliver the Word of God to all that we can reach.
